Plan Ahead

New riders need little to get started – mostly a love of horses and a willingness to learn.
Here are some other things to help make that first lesson go smoothly:

Clothes
Wear loose jeans or stretchy long pants – you’ve got to be able to move with the horse.
Wear sturdy, flat soled shoes or boots, preferably with a heel.
As it gets colder, be sure to wear layers – the arena is heated, but this is Minnesota. With cool air and a warm horse, you’ll need to be flexible.

Equipment
Helmets are available (and required!). Eventually you’ll want your own, but you can start with one of ours.

Paperwork
These forms must be filled out before you can ride – Jimmy has copies at the barn, make sure to allow time to fill them out at your first visit.
